The main delays are the right turning traffic and delivery lorries. The new roundabout will sort one of these out.

Certainly Clay Cross has been in desperate need of an improvement of the road off the A61 where there are bottlenecks caused by northbound traffic waiting to turn right regardless of new development and their isn't any money in county or government pots. The roundabout at Chesterfield is much better...
