Why wasn't Saint Augustines estate named after the Church?

Was Bonds Main where the bridge crosses the by-pass to the motorway near Temple Normanton?

Grandad worked there before he moved to Glapwell and Creswell, (or so Ev used to tell us) and as some of the family lived around there assume you are right.

Have you got the right Hipper Street? There is also Hipper Street West which is off Chatsworth Road.

What I read was that the jaw bones on Jaw Bones Hill were the jaws of a whale (from Whitby? ) and they formed the one side of of a gate way on to the fields.

Hell of a lot of whales must have been killed, because there is a Jawbones Hill in Sheffield, Barnsley and Doncaster (all local names). It seems a funny coincidence that all the places that are called that seem to feature a bend in the road, a bit like the shape of a jawbone.

As for the Church and the housing estate?? The Church is named after two Saints Augustine - one from Hypo and one from Canterbury, so the if the estate was named after the church it should have been called Saints Augustine not Saint Augustines - am I sad or what - don't answer that
