At the England v Scotland odd-ball game we had the Scottish anthem and the BRITISH anthem. Hello..I always thought Scotland was in Britain. So we should have just the one to cover both teams or something more uplifting as an English anthem. Didn't? we use Jerusalem at one time? Or even Land Of Hope And Glory. Or could someone pen a new one?

Flower of Scotland is indeed a rousing tune - but as usual the 'Celts' seem to get their sense of identity - by not being English / recalling beating the English once / or just knocking the English. God Save the Queen is ok by me - tho often I wish I was Italian - they have a fine anthem that spreads into two completely separate, but enjoyable songs!

Same with the Welsh using Land of My Fathers.
The English cricket team (well I say English there's currently 4 South Africans and an Irishman in the team) use Jerusalem.
The English team at the Commonwealth games use Land of Hope and Glory

God Save The Queen is suitable (although dreary) for the Olympics or when we field a Britain rugby team in either code but shouldn't be used for England in competition with another British team

So they can use it for 3 of their 6 nations opponents then? Perhaps thats why they don't change it for Scotland and Wales?

They always say they want to go it alone - with England's funding of course.

Be careful, if Scotland laid sole claim to all the North Sea Oil revenue they'd be a very rich little country.

Check where the oil comes from and then check the "Border", most of it is in English national waters, it is only landed in Scotland
