Just reading Facebook that they have quit at Peak FM to go work in Hull.

The fact that they didn't mention anything, and they are just 'gone' says the management only found out today, and spat the dummy out. 'If you want to leave, then don't bother coming in in the morning'

Becky has posted that Sean and her are leaving Peak FM on her Facebook wall. Says that she will be making the announcement on air tomorrow.

Viking FM is part of the Bauer Radio group of stations.

Your definition of 'quit' must be different to mine then.

Sorry, but that is really clutching at straws. UTV-Bauer is a multiplex, so we're talking hardware here. The multiplex is jointly owned by UTV and Bauer.

Anyway, I turned on Peak FM this morning and funnily enough, Sean and Becky weren't there, and Becky said her goodbyes. Sean wasn't allowed to go into the station. Smacks of the management having a paddy about them wanting to leave.

I stated that Viking FM was owned by a different company because it is.

This is probably why there is such a speedy, hush hush removal of the pair. UTV will not like them being poached by a rival company, so as above it smacks of sour grapes. Especially if the two companies have had a joint venture in the broadcasting hardware. Perhaps they are a little hurt that a "partner" would do this to them.

If they were moving to another station ownedby the same group, there would have been much more of a smooth transition imho. There will certainly be a huge gap to fill at Peak FM now.

Good luck to Sean and Becky, and I'm sure Becky will have every continued success with her charity work. A true amabssador for breast cancer awareness.

Must have been a decent offer from Viking in order to prise them away. They seemed to be very attached to both Peak and Chesterfield.

    Who cares. ;)
I don't listen to local radio, its usually radio 2 for me. There was outrage when Wogan left, the world would end it seemed. Now, his replacement, Chris Evans, has the biggest audience figures for any radio show in Europe apparently.

Have to admit, I listen to Radio 2 more than any other station and particularly enjoy Chris Evans show. Found myself listening to Peak FM less as time went on. Still it seems that Sean and Becky had quite the following locally.

Well I hope they really do have an offer, & it wasn't just a ploy for a wage increase! :|

Mostly Radio 2 for me if I'm out of reach of Planet Rock on internet radio.

Gave up on Peak years ago. It started off a descent community station with people like Dave Kilner and Rod Bearney but became just part of a bigger organisation

From Viking FM facebook page it appears they have not renewed the contract of a former regular breakfast show presenter. It may be that Sean & Becky will be filling this slot?

I don't really listen to the radio but when I do it's the classic station to relax & chill......

Spotted on Becky Measures twitter. Do you think this move has been on the cards for a while? Certainly starting to sound like Peak FM spat the dummy out and did not give them a chance to do a farewell show etc...

Don't mind her...but he will be no loss, he's so far up his own backside. I stopped listening some time ago as I can't be doing with him.

Yep, they have both done a lot of good for local charities (and national), so are certainly more than just a loss to a local radio station.

Depends what you call regularly. Only ever have the radio on when alarm goes off, or when in the car. Always tuned to Peak unless I'm out of area.

I listen to them for five minutes on my 'commute' to work in the morning. I can also pick up Viking FM in the car should I want to.

    But I won't.

So pretty much what everyone suspected. Offer from Viking, they hand their notice in and Peak spit the dummy so take them off air immediately rather than allow a goodbye etc.
